Liu WenJu *

backend engineer.

I build systems that run quietly and reliably. I care about clean code, clear boundaries, and the feeling of shipping something useful into the world.

Outside of work, I keep drawing little tools out of my own life: words I want to remember, sounds I want to hear, notes I want to return to.

1.

Engineer

Fifteen years writing backends and the infrastructure underneath. Fluent in Node.js, Python, Ruby, and equally at home with Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD across AWS and GCP.

Drawn to microservices, real-time pipelines, and LLM integration: the quiet machinery that keeps useful products alive.

2.

Side projects

Paw-San is a small iOS app for learning Japanese vocabulary, one word at a time. No streaks, no leaderboards.

Vibeband is an ambient sound generator that runs in your terminal. Written in Rust, powered by ElevenLabs.

3.

Learner of Japanese

I've been chipping away at Japanese for a while now. Paw-San came out of that: a tool I wanted for myself. 言葉 at a time.

Reading, listening, forgetting, and returning. The small loop is the whole practice.

On reading

Trainspotting is my Bible.

Books, notes, and weird little sentences keep me honest about what I think I know.
